Another masterpiece. I love it. Very emotive and evocative, with a sense of secrecy involved, which is a preservation of selfhood. v/f/pin, with acknowledgment.

Good luck with your decision dear Jane..hope it turns well. You are very kind to me and I appreciate your not deserving comments.

Dear Clothilde, today I stop here. You are a genius of course. Undoubtedly. These paintings wouldnt look out of place in the Louvre. This incrediblly beautiful picture is speaking to me so powerfully about a decision I am struggling with..something compelling that I am resisting. A truly great gallery...v/f

Clotilde, thanks so much for explaining the painting to me. Perhaps if you want to use it, you really do have the control? The unknown is always scary.
Madeline Ellis
Or do the stairs symbolize sex and that would explain the title? But she does having a winning hand. Does that mean she is in control? Your painting really makes the viewer think.
Clotilde Espinosa replied:
I love to explain my paintings and this one is easy to do Madeline, your interpretation is almost right but her hand covering the ball with the stair means she is very indecisive. She has a wonderful life but she does not feel free enough or brave enough to do more. I use my husband to excuse myself of my weakness but also he contributes to it...
Madeline Ellis
Clotilde, she seems to have a pretty good hand. What do the stairs mean in her crystal ball? Perhaps she has not yet come to a conclusion where she is going. The man stands at the door, but she is separated from him by the curtain like streamers. Does she want to leave him? Lots of intriguing symbolism makes this so interesting. It is not just another pretty painting though it is an excellent one. v/f for sure.
